Extraction and Determination of Valuable Components from Lupin Beans
Beschrijving
The here-presented research focuses on the exploration of lupin beans and the analysis and extraction of its valuable components. Lupin beans offer a high protein and lipid content but can also contain toxic quinolizidine alkaloids. For the analytical determination of alkaloids, a method comparison was conducted for Lupinus mutabilis cultivar branco beans and a discrimination of polar alkaloids was revealed. This was particularly the case with solid phase extraction (SPE) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), but not with Soxhlet or Randall extraction. Additionally, the protein fraction was extracted via the isoelectric point precipitation and its extraction parameters were analyzed. A successful replacement of hydrochloric acid by carbon dioxide was demonstrated. Lastly, in two attached publications, the extraction of lipids via supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and its influencing parameters were discussed.
