The Internet introduces new business choices for customer interaction. In this article we introduce two claims. Firstly, we will show that the way companies shape their customer interaction, and not their sector or size, determine the market segmentation. Secondly, Internet dynamics and its effect on customer interaction rebalances the companies’ marketing and sales function: the Internet shortens the time window for new market opportunities and makes everyone a salesman. Therefore, traditional marketing activities become more and more part of Sales. Corporate communication and branding become more vital.

The reaction of the alkyl complexes Cp*2LnCH(SiMe 3)2 (Ln = Y 1-Y, Ce 1-Ce, La 1-La; Cp* = η5-C5Me5) and Me2Si(η 5-C5Me4)2LnCH(SiMe3) 2 (Ln = Ce 5-Ce) with 1-methylalk-2-ynes CH3C≡CR (R = Me 3a, Et 3b, nPr 3c, tBu 3d, SiMe3 3e, Ph 3f, C6H4Me-2 3g, C6H3Me 2-2,6 3h, C6H3iPr2-2,6 3i, C6F5 3j) affords the corresponding η3-propargyl/allenyl complexes Cp*2LnCH 2CCR (4a-j-Ln) and Me2Si(η5-C 5Me4)2CeCH2CCR (6a-j-Ce) via propargylic metalation. The hydride complexes [Cp*2Ln(μ-H)] 2 (Ln = Y 2-Y, Ce 2-Ce, La 2-La) react rapidly with 3 to produce mixtures of insertion and propargylic metalation products, and the relative rate of these processes depends on the metal and alkyne substituent. Selected η3-propargy/allenyl complexes Cp*2YCH 2CCR (R = Me 4a-Y, Ph 4f-Y), Cp*2CeCH2CCR (R = Me 4a-Ce, Ph 4f-Ce), Cp*2CeCH(Me)CCEt (9b-Ce), Cp*2LaCH2CCR (R = Ph 4f-La, C6H 3Me2-2,6 4h-La) are obtained on a preparative scale and characterized by NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and cryoscopy. Compounds 4f-Y and 4f-La are also characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The reactions of the η3-propargyl/allenyl complexes with Brønsted acids, such as alcohols and acetylenes, afford the corresponding substituted allenes (RCH=C=CH2) and 1-methylalk-2-ynes (CH 3C≡CR) as organic products. The reactions of 4f-Y and 4f-La with Lewis bases, such as pyridine and THF, yield die corresponding base adducts. The adduct 4f-La · py is characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing an η3-coordinated propargyl/allenyl ligand. © 2008 American Chemical Society.

Ageing potentially poses a threat to independent functioning of older adults. Although clinicians commonly focus on physical factors limiting Functional Independence (FI), it is likely that personal and environmental interactions also seem important to maintain FI. Herewith, FI exceeds several professional borders and calls for a uniform, multidisciplinary interdisciplinary supported definition of FI. This study aims to provide such a definition of FI in community dwelling older people. A scoping review was performed. Pubmed/Medline, Psychinfo and CINAHL were searched for studies describing aspects of FI. A literature-based definition of FI was discussed by experts (n = 7), resulting in a formulated final definition of FI and insight into contributing factors to FI. A multidisciplinairy focusgroup a stakeholder consultation (n = 15) ensured clinical relevance for daily practice. Data from the focusgroup stakeholder consultation were analyzed by using Atlas.ti (version 8). Based on the literature search, 25 studies were included. FI was finally defined as “Functioning physically safely and independent from another person, within one’s own context”. The contributing factors of FI comprised physical capacity combined with coping, empowerment and health literacy. Moreover, the level of FI is influenced by someone’s own context. This study confirms the relevance of the physical aspect of FI, but additionally stresses the importance of psychological factors. In addition, this study shows that one’s context may affect the level of FI as well. This underlines the importance of a holistic view and calls for multidisciplinary interdisciplinary collaboration in community-dwelling older people.

The Internet is changing the way we organize work. It is shifting the requirements for what we call the “schedule push” and the hierarchical organization that it implies, and therefore it is removing the type of control that is conventionally used to match resources to tasks, and customer demand to supplies and services. Organizational hierarchies have become too expensive to sustain, and in many cases their style of coordination is simply no longer necessary. The cost complexity of the industrial complex starts to outweigh the benefits, and the Internet is making it redundant. The question I put forward in this Article, after a short description of how I envision “the change,” is what new requirements should be met by software in order to meet the requirements of the networked economy. Business will develop from Business-to-Consumer (B2C) to Consumer-to- Business (C2B) to People-to-People (P2P), customers more and more taking control over business activities, overhead being replaced by customer focus. This is also a new reality for the software world.

This paper compares different low-cost sensors that can measure (5G) RF-EMF exposure. The sensors are either commercially available (off-the-shelf Software Defined Radio (SDR) Adalm Pluto) or constructed by a research institution (i.e., imec-WAVES, Ghent University and Smart Sensor Systems research group (S3R), The Hague University of Applied Sciences). Both in-lab (GTEM cell) and in-situ measurements have been performed for this comparison. The in-lab measurements tested the linearity and sensitivity, which can then be used to calibrate the sensors. The in-situ testing confirmed that the low-cost hardware sensors and SDR can be used to assess the RF-EMF radiation. The variability between the sensors was 1.78 dB on average, with a maximum deviation of 5.26 dB. Values between 0.09 V/m and 2.44 V/m were obtained at a distance of about 50 m from the base station. These devices can be used to provide the general public and governments with temporal and spatial 5G electromagnetic field values.

Despite continuous efforts in various economies, amongst others in South-East Asia, the full potential of social entrepreneurship (SE) is difficult to realize (STEPup project comparative study findings). Challenges that need to be addressed include the lack of skilled employees, business understanding among founders, access to funding and infrastructure and a lack of social impact measurement. Higher education institutions (HEI) are often challenged with limited engagement, also in terms of student support of early entrepreneurial activity. This disbalance has also been observed in Thailand and Myanmar, with the Erasmus+ funded project STEPup (2020-2023) seeing an opportunity to create and strengthen innovative social entrepreneurship practices for disruptive business settings in the two participating countries. Research based on the review of scientific articles, the conduct of focus groups (n= 42 from 38 different external stakeholder organizations) and numerous interviews and creative sessions with stakeholders of the social entrepreneurship domain also revealed the necessity to act in a self-organizing and organic SE support system. This paper aims to present recommendations and strategic guidelines to increase access and opportunity for existing social enterprises and social entrepreneurs who are planning to create and sustain an SE ecosystem through the framework, support, expertise and structure of existing higher education institutions. In addition, Higher Education Institutions in Myanmar and Thailand would serve as a good practice case on how to design and develop resource hubs for social enterprise practitioners and engage stakeholders from all sectors to tackle social issues and promote awareness of the social enterprise sector’s potential.
