The swift enhancement of technology has affected the business environment as higher education alone no longer plays a definitive role in the employment process. To meet the emerging requirements of employers, individuals, specifically students, need to gain more entrepreneurial tendencies. The aim of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the entrepreneurial intention (EI) of university students. In order to do so, five constructs (EI, individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO), self-efficacy, environmental support, and knowledge sharing) and their items taken from existing literature were used within the proposed model, and the constructed hypotheses were evaluated using structural equation modelling (SEM). Based on the model, a survey was distributed to 332 students of various universities.Self-efficacy and IEO are expected to be the prime factors affecting EI, whereas environmental support and knowledge sharing are expected to have more of an indirect effect on EI. Overall, this study will help establish the influencers of EI among university students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate entrepreneurial intentions and cultural differences. The sample represents 1,110 business students from ten cultural clusters. The students completed a questionnaire that focussed on various dimensions of entrepreneurial intentions. Results indicated various statistically significant differences between the cultures. Country specific strategies related to enhancing entrepreneurship are discussed at the end of the paper.

This paper investigates whether students change their entrepreneurial entry preference if they are presented with different options. We propose that students’ entry preferences are mediated by concepts proposed by threshold theory: choice options, opportunity costs and psychic income. This study is exploratory in nature, analyzing a small sample of 31 student essays both quantitatively and qualitatively to test our propositions. Though lacking a control group, enrolment in a six-week module on entry mode options by a group of third year Bachelor students at a Dutch university resulted in some interesting changes—in particular, toward greater clarity in the entrepreneurial entry mode preference as well as a shift toward takeover options (including firm acquisition and family succession). However, thematic analysis of students essays reveals that the perceived ability to act on such preferences may still be limited by opportunity costs (i.e., the higher need for financial capital) and a self-perceived lack of human capital (entrepreneurial or management experience).

This study focusses on the influence of the family context on the development of entrepreneurial intention (EI) among young adults with entrepreneurial parents. It extends the EI literature by drawing on social cognitive career theory to study the interaction between entrepreneurial parents and their children. We introduce the learning experiences ‘vicarious learning’ and ‘social persuasion’ as antecedents of EI and found significant empirical support for the influence of social persuasion. In addition, we study the relationship between gender and EI. Our results not only confirm the direct effect of gender on EI but also reveal a significant mediating effect of parental preference – one of the social persuasion factors studied – on the gender–EI relationship.

This paper explores the link between culture and tailored entrepreneurial education, addressing how cultural differences, influenced by Hofstede's dimensions, impact entrepreneurial behaviour. The study involves 772 students from higher education institutions in the Asian, Baltic, and Eastern European regions, utilizing factor analyses and statistical methods to identify entrepreneurial qualities from Likert-scale evaluations of 13 items. Findings reveal notable regional differences, highlighting traits like courage in Japan and China, and risk-taking in the USA. This research underscores the need for context-sensitive strategies in entrepreneurship education, advocating for tailored support to overcome cultural barriers. Ultimately, it enriches understanding of how culture shapes entrepreneurial behaviour and informs strategies for multinational corporations and education curricula.

This paper provides new insights into entrepreneurship education (EE) for children, by combining three elements that expand the EE literature in a novel direction: (1) the content focus is on social and sustainable entrepreneurship; (2) the educational setting studied is primary education; and (3) the focus is on the effects as perceived by the participating children themselves.Explorative research was done on two programs delivered by EE provider Fawaka School of Entrepreneurship in the city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. A one-group pre-test/post-test survey among the full population of 450 participating children was conducted in 2021. The results provide clues that a program focused on sustainable and social entrepreneurship can provide different results than more ‘general’ programs on entrepreneurship, in particular with regard to differences between girls and boys. After the program, differences in entrepreneurial intentions are significantly smaller, and a number of significant differences with regard to self-confidence disappear.
