Municipalities often collaborate with other stakeholders in smart city projects to develop and implement technological innovations to address complex urban issues. We propose the shared portfolio approach as an alternative way of collaborating, because we have identified possible limitations when the commonly used single-project approach is adopted in complex contexts, such as the smart city context. The portfolio approach enhances flexibility, an embedded focus and cross-project learning, because partners work on multiple projects – either in parallel or in succession – to develop multiple solutions to a specific problem. An in-depth case study is used to illustrate how the shared portfolio approach works. In practice, these insights can be used by public bodies who aim to collaborate in smart city development or by partners who work on smart city projects and wish to continue their collaboration in a portfolio setting. Conceptually, our paper develops a connection between cross-sector partnership literature and smart city literature by revealing how the shared portfolio approach could be an effective way to deal with the complexities of innovation in the smart city context.

This paper will explore how a portfolio approach to teaching and learning can help the educator incorporate unique forms of reflective practice into his or her daily work. By being able to express ideas more clearly to himself, the educator can better promote the relational construction of knowledge in his educational communities. This paper, as part of a larger body of research asks, how can a portfolio approach to teaching and learning help the educator develop unique forms of reflective practice that will help him express his ideas more clearly, first to himself and then secondly to his educational communities? Research methodology is primarily participatory action research and includes an autoethnographic review of the author's work, reviews, interviews, observations, and focus groups with student teachers and professional teachers in the United Arab Emirates. The research concludes that in consideration of McLuhan's (1964) notion that the "medium is the message," the interactions that arise through the use of new media tools can lead us to relational, co-constructed ideas that are not those simply passed on from other texts. By making our thinking visible, the portfolio approach allows the educator to capture the contextual relationship between the author, the audience or community, and the knowledge being created.

Bij de pabo van de Hogeschool Utrecht zijn twee cursussen ontworpen op basis van de principes van programmatisch toetsen. In de voltijd jaar 1 van de propedeuse is dit experiment in het studiejaar 2022-2023 gestart. Met het experiment wil de opleiding onderzoeken of de principes van dit onderwijsconcept passend zijn bij de pabo. In de twee nieuw ontworpen cursussen wordt gewerkt met negen leeruitkomsten als ruggengraat. Er zijn lange leerlijnen gecreëerd door het onderwijs te roosteren over een half jaar. Er is ruimte gekomen om ontwikkelingsgerichte feedback toe te passen en het leerproces van de student centraal te stellen. Er wordt gewerkt met een digitaal portfolio in Scorion waarin de focus ligt op de feedback die is gegeven op datapunten. Er is leerteambegeleiding ingericht om studenten optimaal te begeleiden in kleinere groepen dan een klas. Studenten worden getraind in hun feedbackgeletterdheid. Met een portfolio assessment worden beide cursussen afgesloten. Studenten nemen bewijsmateriaal op in een portfolio systeem en verschillende feedbackgevers geven daar feedback op. Na het geven van feedback wordt zo’n bewijsstuk een datapunt. Een datapunt is niet meer dan 1 brokje informatie die iets zegt over het functioneren van de student. De examinator beoordeelt in het portfolio niet het bewijsmateriaal zelf, maar integreert de feedback die is gegeven door experts (vakdocenten en praktijkopleider) en combineert dit met de feedback van de student zelf en zijn medestudenten. Tijdens de workshop zijn de ervaringen met dit experiment gedeeld met de deelnemers aan de workshop. Hoe beoordelen onze examinatoren het programmatische portfolio. Vervolgens hebben de deelnemers zelf een portfolio beoordeling uitgevoerd enkel op basis van feedback van anderen. Lukt het zonder inhoudelijk expert te zijn om tot een holistisch oordeel te komen van de leeruitkomsten die centraal staan.

Brand portfolio strategies are an essential prerequisite for securing long-term success for multi-brand companies. Only by focusing on the entire portfolio can it be ensured that all brands “act in concert” to achieve superordinate objectives. Thereby, an increasing vertical competition caused by private labels calls for a new approach, by which brand manufacturers integrate private labels into their portfolio management. This paper presents a planning model that is embedded in the company’s strategic management and demonstrates how brand-related objectives/strategies can be linked with superordinated objectives/strategies. By including vertical marketing goals into portfolio strategy, brand manufacturers may gain from extending the planning scope to private label brands.

Programmatisch toetsen is een holistische benadering waarbij wordt gekeken naar de gehele ontwikkeling van de student en toetsing het leerproces stimuleert (Baartman, Van Schilt-Mol en Van der Vleuten, 2020). Studenten verzamelen hierbij bewijsmaterialen, feedback en reflecties in bijvoorbeeld een digitaal portfolio. Verschillende opleidingen binnen Inholland oriënteren zich, net als in de rest van het hoger onderwijs, op het concept programmatisch toetsen. Genoeg reden voor het lectoraat Teaching Learning & Technology (TLT) om een nulmeting te doen en te inventariseren wat de huidige ervaringen zijn.

The musical landscape in Europe shows a complex picture. Societal change leads to change in the careers of artists. We see an increasing number of unstable jobs in the music profession. It no longer offers many opportunities for full-time, long-term contract work, but is often more project-based, calling on musicians to contribute on a sporadic basis or for specific activities. Many graduates employ themselves as freelance artists.Rarely employed in one job for life, the musician is increasingly an entrepreneur having a portfolio career, comprising simultaneous or successive, brief or part-time periods of employment in different areas of the music profession. Having a portfolio career does not mean that a musician is not employable; rather this reality reflects societal change and also creates, sometimes exciting, challenges. Exact figures of musicians holding a portfolio career are not known.
