H2LEARN establishes a responsive and adaptive human capital infrastructure, or ecosystem, in the Northwestern region by creating a robust and vibrant macro learning community. Our research question is: How can an ecosystem be co-designed and co-created to enhance educational provision that accelerates human capital development for green hydrogen? We research learning communities at the macro level to enhance ecosystem emergence and orchestration and at the micro level to facilitate transdisciplinary collaboration. To understand how collaborative processes unfold and are managed, we designed a participatory action research study to observe and actively intervene in the learning communities’ collaborative activities and actions. Simultaneously as we study the processes of learning communities, participants engage in co-creating and sharing knowledge to progress the macro learning community and develop education provisions to upskill and reskill human capital for the green hydrogen transition. H2LEARN research outputs contribute meaningful societal impacts, particularly in creating an ecosystem that responds and adapts to rapidly changing human capital needs and in creating flexible and personalized learning pathways that enhance human capital resilience to accelerate societal and economic transitions and reduce time-to-job and labour shortages.
