Publinova is the national platform for open practice-oriented research. Publinova is a collaboration between the Dutch universities of Applied Sciences, the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, SIA and SURF.
At Publinova we make Dutch applied research visible by making (research) products, projects, people and parties visible and combine them on one platform.
All open applied research and its related information is searchable and findable. Via Publinova and via search engines.
Increase the impact of applied research by downloading products, sharing information on social media and contacting professors of applied science and researchers.
The applied research of universities of applied sciences arises from a question or problem from practice. Results are knowledge, insights, products and services that contribute to innovation in professional practice and solving social issues. The knowledge gained contributes directly to that professional practice and thus enhances the quality of higher vocational education.
Practice-oriented research is thus focused on and inspired by professional practice and thus distinguishes itself from theory-based research, which is usually mainly aimed at filling theory gaps. With Publinova, we want to make practice-based research more visible, findable and available on a national level, across the borders of universities of applied sciences, regions, systems and domains.
Publinova originated from a project commissioned by 14 universities of applied sciences. For this, we collaborated with the HBO Knowledge Infrastructure (HBO kennisbank), the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (VH), Regieorgaan SIA and SURF. We were looking to improve the current knowledge infrastructure for practice-based research to meet open science ambitions. Publinova is the outcome of this search. Publinova is now a service of SURF and is being further developed with SIA and the universities of applied sciences. Read more about our open access statement.
Publinova was developed in close cooperation with the universities of applied sciences. The following universities of applied sciences were joint clients for this project:
