There is a growing debate about the use of creativity for sustainable development, particularly in terms ofincreasing the creative potential of cities. However, studies based on the experiences and perspectives ofleading authors in this area are limited. Greg Richards is a long-standing researcher on the application ofcreativity in various socio-economic sectors, including creative tourism, creative cities, economy, and creativeindustries. This study, based on a semi-structured interview conducted with Greg Richards, seeks to presentsome reflections and ideas for ways forward, considering the scenario before, during, and after the Covid-19pandemic and its possible effects on the new economy. Particular attention is paid to the emerge of ‘glocal’creativity, especially related to the UNESCO Creative Cities.

Our study looks at gender differences among professors at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). Despite progress in female representation in higher education, women still make up only 43% of professors as of 2024. While this is a 12% increase from last year, gender gaps persist. Specifically, the Faculty of Business and Education has only 29% women in professor positions. In contrast, the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries and the Faculty of Health have more balanced gender distributions, with 50% and 55% women as full professors, respectively. We suggest AUAS should keep working to balance gender in full professor roles by strengthening executive commitment, setting clear goals, and monitoring progress closely. Our analysis has certain limitations. We lack specific details regarding the professors' appointment hours and their salary scale information. Furthermore, the recent inclusion of associate professors has not been accounted for in our analysis.
Many attempts in measuring the pulse and potential of a creative city have been undertaken during the last decade or so. Popular notions like Creative City or Creative Class were coined and catered for policy-makers and urban developers, which try to explain how to create and retain prosperity and affluence by applying these concepts to actual city-making. It sounded like a magical formula ready to come true.
Het doel van dit interdisciplinaire SIA KIEM project Fluïde Eigenschap in de Creatieve Industrie is te onderzoeken of en hoe gedeelde vormen van eigenaarschap in de creatieve industrie kunnen bijdragen aan het creëren van een democratischer en duurzamer economie, waarin ook het MKB kan participeren in digitale innovatie. Het project geeft een overzicht van beschikbare vormen van (gedeeld) eigenaarschap, hun werking en hoe deze creatieve professionals kunnen ondersteunen bij de transitie naar de platformeconomie. Dit wordt toegepast op een concrete case, dat van een digitale breimachine. Naast het leveren van een goede praktijk, moet het project leiden tot een groter internationaal onderzoeksvoorstel over Fluid Ownership in the Creative Industry, dat dieper ingaat op de beschikbare eigendomsoplossingen en hoe deze waarde zullen creëren voor de creatieve professional.
