Background: Dermoscopy is known to increase the diagnostic accuracy of pigmented skin lesions (PSLs) when used by trained professionals. The effect of dermoscopy training on the diagnostic ability of dermal therapists (DTs) has not been studied so far. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate whether DTs, in comparison with general practitioners (GPs), benefited from a training programme including dermoscopy, in both their ability to differentiate between different forms of PSL and to assign the correct therapeutic strategy. Methods: In total, 24 DTs and 96 GPs attended a training programme on PSLs. Diagnostic skills as well as therapeutic strategy were assessed, prior to the training (pretest) and after the training (post-test) using clinical images alone, as well as after the addition of dermatoscopic images (integrated post-test). Bayesian hypothesis testing was used to determine statistical significance of differences between pretest, post-test and integrated post-test scores. Results: Both the DTs and the GPs demonstrated benefit from the training: at the integrated post-test, the median proportion of correctly diagnosed PSLs was 73% (range 30–90) for GPs and 63% (range 27–80) for DTs. A statistically significant difference between pretest results and integrated test results was seen, with a Bayes factor>100. At 12 percentage points higher, the GPs outperformed DTs in the accuracy of detecting PSLs. Conclusions: The study shows that a training programme focusing on PSLs while including dermoscopy positively impacts detection of PSLs by DTs and GPs. This training programme could form an integral part of the training of DTs in screening procedures, although additional research is needed.

De opdracht is verleend door de Directie Facilitair, Huisvesting & Inkoop (DFH&I) van Dienst Justitiële Inrichtingen (DJI) in samenspraak met het Lectoraat Ruimtelijke Omgeving en de Gebruiker (De Haagse Hogeschool) en het Lectoraat Facility Management (Hanzehogeschool Groningen). Initiele vraag luidde hoe justitiabelen en penitentiaire inrichtingswerkers reinheid op een afdeling ervaren en hoe dat samenhangt met zelfredzaamheid.
The purpose of this study was to analyse knowledge management research trends to understand the development of the field using a combination of scientometric, bibliometric, and visualisation techniques, subsequently developing a normative framework of knowledge management from the results.282 articles between the years 2010–2015 were retrieved, analysed, and visualised to produce the state of knowledge management during the selected timeframe. The results of this study provide a visualisation of the current research trends to understand the development of the knowledge management discipline. There are signals that the literature about knowledge management is progressing towards academic maturity. This study is one of the first studies to combine bibliometric and scientometric methods to assess productivity along with visualisation, and subsequently provide a knowledge management framework drawing from the results of these methods.

CRYPTOPOLIS is a project supported by EU which focuses on the financial management knowledge of teachers and the emerging field of risk management and risk analysis of cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency has shown to be a vital and rapidly growing component in today’s digital economy therefore there is a need to include not just financial but also crypto literacy into the schools. Beside multiple investors and traders the market is attracting an increasing number of young individuals, viewing it as an easy way to make money. A large pool of teenagers and young adults want to hop on this train, but a lack of cryptocurrency literacy, as well as financial literacy in general amongst youth, together with their inexperience with investing makes them even more vulnerable to an already high-risk investment.Therefore, we aim to increase the capacity and readiness of secondary schools and higher educational institutions to manage an effective shift towards digital education in the field of crypto and financial literacy. The project will develop the purposeful use of digital technologies in financial and crypto education for teaching, learning, assessment and engagement.
Gemeenten zijn ongerust over de cyberweerbaarheid van hun vitale infrastructuren, zoals waterbeheer en verkeersmanagement. Deze infrastructuren zijn vaak in hoge mate geautomatiseerd en verbonden met het internet. De digitale systemen binnen de infrastructuren worden aangeduid als Operationele Technologie (OT). Er is een toenemende dreiging van cyberaanvallen op de OT van vitale infrastructuren, met potentieel ernstige gevolgen, zoals grote materiële schade, maatschappelijke onrust en zelfs dodelijke slachtoffers. Hierbij gaat het niet alleen om cyberaanvallen door vandalen of criminelen, zoals ransomware, maar ook om cyberaanvallen ten gevolge van internationale conflicten. De gemeentelijke CISO’s en informatiebeveiligers zijn verantwoordelijk voor het treffen van goede beveiligingsmaatregelen. Met betrekking tot OT hebben zij echter te weinig kennis om dat effectief te kunnen doen. Cyberweerbaarheid van OT vergt specialistische kennis, die sterk verschilt van de gebruikelijke IT-kennis binnen kantoorautomatisering. Bovendien wordt de cyberweerbaarheid van de OT negatief beïnvloed door een grote diversiteit in technologie, spreiding en afhankelijkheid van een grote hoeveelheid externe leveranciers en dienstverleners. Deze problematiek speelt ook bij andere organisaties, met name omdat hiervoor nog geen geschikte oplossingen beschikbaar zijn. Dit RAAK-project beoogt met behulp van gemeentelijke casestudy’s oplossingen te zoeken. Mogelijke oplossingsrichtingen worden onderzocht en geëvalueerd. Enkele kansrijke oplossingsrichtingen worden met de gemeenten uitgewerkt in aanpassing van bestaande- en nieuw te ontwikkelen instrumenten voor interventies. Deze worden geëvalueerd en gegeneraliseerd. Drie cybersecuritylectoraten van De Haagse Hogeschool (CSS en NSE) en Hogeschool Utrecht (CS) werken in dit praktijkgerichte onderzoek samen met de gemeenten Eindhoven, Rotterdam en Zoetermeer, alsook met de Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) en de Informatiebeveiligingsdienst (IBD). Daarnaast nemen het nationaal veiligheidscluster Security Delta, kennisinstelling TNO en cyberexpertbureau Hudson Cybertec deel. Verankering van kennis vindt plaats in onderwijs en lectoraten. Hierbij zijn drie lectoren, vijftien (docent)onderzoekers en circa tweehonderdvijfentwintig studenten betrokken.
The IMPULS-2020 project DIGIREAL (BUas, 2021) aims to significantly strengthen BUAS’ Research and Development (R&D) on Digital Realities for the benefit of innovation in our sectoral industries. The project will furthermore help BUas to position itself in the emerging innovation ecosystems on Human Interaction, AI and Interactive Technologies. The pandemic has had a tremendous negative impact on BUas industrial sectors of research: Tourism, Leisure and Events, Hospitality and Facility, Built Environment and Logistics. Our partner industries are in great need of innovative responses to the crises. Data, AI combined with Interactive and Immersive Technologies (Games, VR/AR) can provide a partial solution, in line with the key-enabling technologies of the Smart Industry agenda. DIGIREAL builds upon our well-established expertise and capacity in entertainment and serious games and digital media (VR/AR). It furthermore strengthens our initial plans to venture into Data and Applied AI. Digital Realities offer great opportunities for sectoral industry research and innovation, such as experience measurement in Leisure and Hospitality, data-driven decision-making for (sustainable) tourism, geo-data simulations for Logistics and Digital Twins for Spatial Planning. Although BUas already has successful R&D projects in these areas, the synergy can and should significantly be improved. We propose a coherent one-year Impuls funded package to develop (in 2021): 1. A multi-year R&D program on Digital Realities, that leads to, 2. Strategic R&D proposals, in particular a SPRONG/sleuteltechnologie proposal; 3. Partnerships in the regional and national innovation ecosystem, in particular Mind Labs and Data Development Lab (DDL); 4. A shared Digital Realities Lab infrastructure, in particular hardware/software/peopleware for Augmented and Mixed Reality; 5. Leadership, support and operational capacity to achieve and support the above. The proposal presents a work program and management structure, with external partners in an advisory role.
