Hyperloop scale-up Hardt and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences explored how hyperloop cargo solutions (Cargoloop) can help sustainably and efficiently meet surging demand for e-commerce shipments. A new vision paper titled ‘Hyperloop for E-commerce – Sustainable, on-demand and high-speed e-commerce fulfillment enabled by Cargoloop’ was published, as a result of joined concept development and E-commerce industry consultation.It concludes that hyperloop technology has “game-changing” potential as governments, retailers, and thought leaders seek sustainable freight solutions.

In the 1980s there was a lot of discussion about whether monitoring special conditions should be a probation task, and whether this can be combined with offering help and assistance. The authors show that this discussion has been settled by introducing a specific knowledge base for probation work. They outline a number of important developments in recent decades: the focus on risk and the enforced framework, and the great influence of new technology. Nevertheless, an important basis for probation remains unchanged: the quality of the contact between probation officer and client.

In dit rapport wordt beschreven hoe ETFI in 2015 samen met Jam Visual Thinking een project gestart zijn om de bouwstenen voor een strategienota aan te dragen. Sustainability transition research seeks to understand the patterns and dynamics of structural societal change as well as unearth strategies for governance. However, existing frameworks emphasize innovation and build-up over exnovation and break-down. This limits their potential in making sense of the turbulent and chaotic dynamics of current transition-in-the-making. Addressing this gap, our paper elaborates on the development and use of the X-curve framework. The X-curve provides a simplified depiction of transitions that explicitly captures the patterns of build-up, breakdown, and their interactions.Using three cases, we illustrate the X-curve’s main strength as a framework that can support groups of people to develop a shared understanding of the dynamics in transitions-in-the-making. This helps them reflect upon their roles, potential influence, and the needed capacities for desired transitions. We discuss some challenges in using the X-curve framework, such as participants’ grasp of ‘chaos’, and provide suggestions on how to address these challenges and strengthen the frameworks’ ability to support understanding and navigation of transition dynamics. We conclude by summarizing its main strength and invite the reader to use it, reflect on it, build on it, and judge its value for action research on sustainability transitions themselves.

This chapter will introduce the circular economy (CE) and Cradle to Cradle (C2C) models of sustainable production. It will reflect on the key blockages to a meaningful sustainable production and how these could be overcome, particularly in the context of business education. The case study of the course for bachelor’s students within International Business Management Studies (IBMS), and at University College in The Netherlands will be discussed. These case studies will illustrate the opportunities as well as potential pitfalls of the closed loop production models. The results of case studies’ analysis show that there was a mismatch between expectations of the sponsor companies and those of students on the one hand and a mismatch between theory and practice on the other hand. De 'Tomtom', ik bedoel hier dan navigatie systemen mee en niet letterlijk producten van het gelijknamige bedrijf, zal dus best veel gebruikt worden in de vele buitenlanden die Nederlanders per auto en fiets plegen te bezoeken. De TomTom is een eigenaardig ding. Aan de ene kant wijst ie de weg. En dat is gemakkelijk. Aan de andere kant wijst ie doorgaans iedereen dezelfde weg met als gevolg dat één weg heel druk is en de alternatieve routes naar het zelfde reisdoel heel leeg. De tomtom creëert daarmee een bias om met zijn allen dezelfde oplossingen langs de zelfde wegen te zoeken. TomTom live verandert daar niets aan.
