This article will analyze how blockchain technology is applied tomanage and track cargo movement across the globe. First, thedistribution of goods, as well as the bill of lading and quality assurance,the shipping time with the lowest cost, is always a problem for logisticscompanies. The cost of securing goods during transit or long time tocomplete customs procedures also affects the delivery results. Expos, festivals and events have become increasingly important as tools of urban developmentin recent decades. The competitive drive to put cities on the global map has led many to adoptevent-based strategies, including the creation of ‘eventful cities’, ‘festival cities’ and ‘eventportfolios’. World Expos have taken on a particular significance as ‘pulsar events’ that canshape the host city through urban development, increased tourism and place branding. Eachhost city also uses the event in a different way, and gives it a unique flavour that tempers theeventual effects. This paper reviews the literature on World Expos and their effects, identifyingthemes including Place branding, Tourism flows, Resident attitudes and Architecture and urbandevelopment. It then analyses the experience of Barcelona, twofold Expo host and a‘paradigmatic’ example of a city developed through mega events.

De afgelopen maanden is de Hongaarse overheid druk bezig geweest met bezoekjes aan Brussel om de Europese Commissie te overtuigen van de puike staat van de rechtsstaat in Hongarije. Reden voor deze bezoeken van de Hongaarse regering is het voorstel van de Europese Commissie om het uitkeren van EU-fondsen aan een lidstaat te blokkeren. Eurocommissaris Hahn stelt dat Hongarije mogelijk zo’n €7,5 miljard aan EU-fondsen misloopt als het niet snel 17 afgesproken hervormingen doorvoert die de rechtsstaat waarborgen. Het zou gaan om 65% van de voor Hongarije beschikbare middelen van de cohesiefondsen.
