Does Science-Fiction predict [or change] the future?

This research paper looks at a selection of science-fiction films and its connection with the progression of the use of television, telephone and print media. It also analyzes statistical data obtained from a questionnaire conducted by the research group regarding the use of communication media.

Media Enriched Sport Experiences

This book provides a sample of studies and concepts created within the project Media ENriched Sport ExperienceS (MENSES). A project powered by Hilversum Media Campus, ZIGGO and Breda University of Applied Sciences. MENSES aims to create new media enriched sport experiences, by means of introducing innovative digital concepts combining media entertainment and live sport content. It wants to share building stones and blueprints to be accessed in Hilversum. As such it will help organizations to answer the question how live and broadcasted sport experiences can be enriched by means of new digital strategies. By combining interaction, transformation and data enrichment, the mediated and live sport events should be turned into a memorable sport experience

Startup

Dit ebook gaat over hoe je een kansrijke Startup wordt. Ongelooflijk veel wijsheid van veel deskundigen is samengekomen in dit (digitale) werkboek. Op verschillende manieren word je in dit boek uitgedaagd: invuloefeningen, lees - en nadenkwerk, schrijfopdrachten en toetsen van je verbeterde idee aan vrienden, coaches en klanten. Langzaam maar zeker komt het businessmodel waar jij je lekker bij voelt, bovendrijven. Allemaal voor dat ene doel: een kansrijk, schaalbaar en herhaalbaar businessmodel. Dit Startup werkboek is uitgegeven in opdracht van het Saxion-project Virtuele verwachting, Fysieke beleving en Smart Creation.  

Making Waves

This is not a catalogue of finished work. This is also not a report of our collaboration on climate imaginaries. Instead, this zine offers a peek into an ongoing collaboration between artists, designers and researchers who have jointly turned their attention to the rising ocean. In riso-printed* collages, designers Carlo De Gaetano, Andy Dockett and Mariana Fernández Mora formulate their visual responses to the questions, insights and experiments we encounter on our journey. Previous research has shown that before people can accept, let alone create, the change necessary for the climate crisis, they need to first be able to imagine life in a changing climate. How can one facilitate imagination between generations and across species, geographies and materialities? Or liberate the imagination from recurring tropes that suggest climate change is of the future, elsewhere, affecting others, when so many people worldwide already live its devastating impact? These questions lie at the heart of our programme Climate Imaginaries at Sea. With the generous support of the NWA-arts route, CoECI and ARIAS, we will continue our work through artistic research studios that address global South, material and interspecies perspectives on climate change*, striving to make waves.
