This chapter offers a working definition of social accountability as any citizen-led action beyond elections that aims to enhance the accountability of state actors. We view social accountability as a broad array of predominantly bottom-up initiatives, aimed at improving the quality of governance (especially oversight and responsiveness) through active citizen participation. We also trace the evolution of SA as a concept in the literature over the past decades and, then, discuss some influential theoretic approaches to SAIs, pointing out strengths and weaknesses of each model. Finally, we suggest organising Arab SAIs into one of three categories: (1) transparency; (2) advocacy; or (3) participatory governance and we review each of these existing action formats by discussing their main strengths and flaws.

Organizations feel an urgency to develop and implement applications based on foundation models: AI-models that have been trained on large-scale general data and can be finetuned to domain-specific tasks. In this process organizations face many questions, regarding model training and deployment, but also concerning added business value, implementation risks and governance. They express a need for guidance to answer these questions in a suitable and responsible way. We intend to offer such guidance by the question matrix presented in this paper. The question matrix is adjusted from the model card, to match well with development of AIapplications rather than AI-models. First pilots with the question matrix revealed that it elicited discussions among developers and helped developers explicate their choices and intentions during development.

White paper Media Future Week Almere Het jaar 2011 werd door Neelie Kroes (Europees Commissaris ‘Digitale Agenda’) afgesloten met de presentatie van een nieuwe Europese richtlijn die ervoor moet zorgen dat overheden meer data voor hergebruik ter beschikking stellen. Open data is volgens Kroes 'goud waard'. Ook binnen de Nederlandse overheid groeit de aandacht voor open data. In de door het rijk geïnitieerde wedstrijd ‘Apps voor Nederland’ (http://www.appsvoornederland.nl/) konden deelnemers mobiele applicaties ontwikkelen met beschikbare overheidsdata. Onder die ontwikkelaars waren eerstejaars studenten Communication & Media Design van de Hogeschool Utrecht. Zij hebben eind vorig jaar enthousiast gepionierd en succesvolle concepten bedacht die gezien de overeenkomsten met de ‘prijswinnende applicaties’ (http://www.appsvoornederland.nl/nieuws/winnaars‐apps‐voor‐nederland‐bekend) zeker kans van slagen zouden hebben. Intensive collaboration between different disciplines is often not without obstacles—healthcare and creative professionals come from different worlds that are not automatically aligned. This study investigates the research question: how do project partners in Create-Health innovation collaborate across boundaries, and how does it add value to interdisciplinary collaboration? It addresses the close collaborations between researchers and practice partners from creative industry and healthcare sector within ten research projects on eHealth innovation. It describes the way that Create-Health collaboration took shape across disciplinary boundaries and provides examples of boundary crossing from the ten projects, with the objective of stimulating learning in the creative and health sectors on creative ways of working on interdisciplinary projects. Findings focus on the way partners from various backgrounds work together across disciplinary boundaries and on the benefits that such collaborations bring for a project.

Het boek ‘Create Health Ways of Working: Insights from ten eHealth innovation research projects’ presenteert inzichten uit het meta-onderzoeksproject ‘Create & Health Innovation WAys of Working Analysis’, ook wel CHIWAWA genoemd. Binnen dit meta-onderzoeksproject inventariseerden onderzoekers van de Hogeschool Utrecht (Lectoraat Onderzoekend Vermogen en Lectoraat Co-design) het gebruik van creatieve manieren van werken bij innovatieprocessen in de zorg, waarvoor zij tien onderzoeksprojecten van Nederlandse kennisinstellingen volgende in de periode 2018 – 2022. Deze tien onderzoeksprojecten en het meta-onderzoek waren onderdeel van het ZonMw-programma Create Health. Het boek presenteert case-portretten van de tien onderzoeksprojecten naar eHealth innovatie die zich concentreerden rondom de thema’s dementie, eenzaamheid en overgewicht. Vervolgens geeft het boek verdieping met betrekking tot de creatieve manieren van werken in de tien Create Health-onderzoeksprojecten, begrip van relationele processen bij het creëren van kennisuitwisseling en zicht op de impact die een dergelijke samenwerking heeft op de zorg- en welzijnssector en op de creatieve industrie. Het boek bevat aanbevelingen voor toekomstige onderzoeksconsortia, financiers en de praktijk (creatieve industrie, zorgsector en doelgroep) en sluit af met de beschrijving van een tool die gebaseerd is op het Research Pathway Model, dat als instrument gebruikt kan worden om het gesprek tussen stakeholders van innovatieprocessen in de zorg te ondersteunen.

Office well-being aims to explore and support a healthy, balanced and active work style in office environments. Recent work on tangible user interfaces has started to explore the role of physical, tangible interfaces as active interventions to explore how to tackle problems such as inactive work and lifestyles, and increasingly sedentary behaviours. We identify a fragmented research landscape on tangible Office well-being interventions, missing the relationship between interventions, data, design strategies, and outcomes, and behaviour change techniques. Based on the analysis of 40 papers, we identify 7 classifications in tangible Office well-being interventions and analyse the intervention based on their role and foundation in behaviour change. Based on the analysis, we present design considerations for the development of future tangible Office well-being design interventions and present an overview of the current field and future research into tangible Office well-being interventions to design for a healthier and active office environment.

Vijf experts uit de special interest groups Open Education en Learning Analytics identificeerden daartoe de uitdagingen in één van beide gebieden. Per uitdaging is een literatuurstudie uitgevoerd en is onderzocht welke concrete vragen er bestaan, welke nationale en internationale voorbeelden er zijn en welke punten nader onderzoek verdienen.
