This overview can be regarded as an atlas or travel guide with which the reader can follow a route along the various professorships. Chapter 2 centres on the professorships that are active in the field of Service Economy. Chapter 3 is dedicated to the professorships that are focussed on the field of Vital Region. Chapter 4 describes the professorships operating in the field of Smart Sustainable Industries. Chapter 5 deals with the professorships that are active in the field of the institution-wide themes of Design Based Education and Design Based Research. Lastly, in Chapter 6 we make an attempt to discover one or more connecting themes or procedures in the approach of the various professorships. This publication is not intended to give a definitive answer to the question as to what exactly NHL Stenden means by the concept of Design Based Research. The aim of this publication is to get an idea of everything that is happening in the NHL Stenden professorships and to pique one’s curiosity to find out more.

These themes address the challenges that are part ofthe international sustainability agenda for 2030: the sustainable developmentgoals (SDGs). This booklet contains fascinating and representative examplesof projects – completed or ongoing, from home and abroad – that are linked tothe SDGs. The project results contribute not only to the SDGs but to their teaching as well.

In de recensie worden systematisch de verschillende onderdelen van het boek besproken. De door ons aangedragen structuur wordt gevolgd. Via de uitgangspunten van praktijkgericht onderzoek, de kenmerken van ABR en de kwaliteitscriteria zoals door ons geformuleerd, komen vervolgens de verschillende disciplines aan bod en wordt het afsluitende hoofdstuk kort beschreven. Door de gekozen schrijfstructuur wordt onze opbouw mooi voor het voetlicht gebracht. Alhoewel we op onderdelen gekozen zouden hebben voor andere accenten, wordt zo een herkenbaar verhaal gepresenteerd. Wel is het jammer dat we voor de recensent onvoldoende duidelijk hebben kunnen maken waarom we het zo belangrijk vinden dat er meer ruimte komt voor ABR in het sociaal domein

Being diagnosed with incurable cancer often leads to experiences of contingency and to existential concerns when patients struggle to search for meaning. The aims of this project are to (1) investigate how Art-Based Learning(ABL) – an art education method for experiencing art – has the potential to affect meaning-making processes of cancer patients in palliative care; (2) to investigate how to integrate this in (patient) education programs; (3) to enable health and art professionals to extent their capabilities to care for PC patients. This project builds on previous research on contingent experiences and narrative meaning-making, and on a pilot-study regarding the feasibility of carrying out ABL in PC. Aims and questions have been developed in a long-lasting process of problem analysis with PC and art education professionals, patients, and researchers. We will a) conduct participatory research to make an inventory of considerations that play a role in designing an art exhibition for the purpose of ABL among patients with advanced cancer, resulting in a manual to be used in future practice and research; b) conduct an explorative study and evaluate which factors hinder and promote patients’ meaning- making processes in online/on-site interventions; c) conduct a formal analysis of patients’ experiences with regards to meaning-making; d) formally compile a full list of conclusion and advices and embed the result in a new educational program for PC and art education professionals. This project is led by the professorship Art education as Critical Tactics(ArtEZ University of the Arts) and is carried out by a consortium of experts and complementary partners: University of Amsterdam and University of Twente (research partners); Amsterdam University Medical Centers, Amsterdam Museum, Museum Arnhem, Museum Jan Cunen, Leren van Kunst (public institutional partners); Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Radboud University, Story Lab-University Twente (knowledge experts); Living with Hope, SPKS, NFK(experience experts/patients advocacy).

In warme zomers zijn de strandjes aan de Nederrijn een geliefde plek waar veel mensen naartoe trekken om te zwemmen en te recreëren. Zwemmen wordt gedoogd, maar is niet zonder gevaar. Veel vluchtelingen kunnen niet of slecht zwemmen en onderschatten het risico van zwemmen in de rivier.

Wageningen richt zich op veilig en inclusief sporten en bewegen in de openbare ruimte. We willen achterhalen hoe het COA met de reeds opgestarte zwemlessen en kennisoverdracht over de risico’s, samen met de regels rond het gedogen van zwemmen in de Rijn, kan voorkomen dat vluchtelingen zichzelf in gevaar brengen of soms zelfs verdrinken. Ook onderzoeken we in hoeverre de openbare ruimte voorziet in fietsbehoeften van vluchtelingen en wat het leren fietsen voor hen betekent. Resultaten Deelproject I ‘Water of Wageningen!’ levert een kennisbundeling op van bestaande materialen en interventies. Het voorziet in een advies en een doeltreffende, duurzame en attractieve werkwijze of product om voorlichting te geven over zwemmen in natuurwater en te wijzen op de gevaren van het zwemmen in de rivier. Deelproject II ‘W on Wheels!’ onderzoekt met een art-based research methode (video) de betekenis van fietsen voor vluchtelingen. Deze creatieve methode stelt vluchtelingen in staat om input te leveren op het beleid en de uitvoering van de inrichting van de openbare ruimte.
