A social media architect is an appealing new profession that entails crossovers between communication and IT & Design. There are no study programmes for this job. Important questions are how to interest secondary school pupils for such a new job, and how to prepare them for these jobs or jobs that do not even exist today? This research aims to set an example by presenting a realistic job profile of a social media architect by linking the ‘21st century skills’ to the context in which he/she operates.

Uit praktijkonderzoek blijkt dat werk verandert, maar dat de beroepsbeelden die breed leven, hier niet in mee veranderen: er zijn veel verouderde beelden. Terwijl de patronen die spelen over sectoren en organisaties heen, zich duidelijk aftekenen: meer cross overs, meer werken in netwerken en ketens en veel meer samenwerken en communiceren. Bovendien moet je je als medewerker blijven ontwikkelen. Samenwerkend leren, met collega's én met samenwerkingspartners is een must. Dat risico zit er in omdat managers (en HRM-ers) nog onvoldoende geëquipeerd zijn om werkomgevingen zo in te richten dat het een vruchtbare omgeving is om in te leren.

In recente jaren is er een groeiende erkenning van cross-overs tussen kunst en het zorg- en welzijnsdomein, waarbij transdisciplinaire samenwerkingen bijdragen aan complexe uitdagingen. In de bloei van cross-overs tussen kunst, zorg en welzijn, ontbreekt momenteel een systematische verkenning van hun impact en uitdagingen binnen het Nederlandse onderwijs. Deze scoping reviewonderzoekt hoe kunst en zorg samenkomen in het onderwijs, welke meerwaarde dat biedt en welke uitdagingen moeten worden overwonnen. De studie inventariseert en categoriseert 50 educatieve praktijken, variërend van kunstinterventies in zorginstellingen tot transdisciplinaire minoren en hybride leeromgevingen. Uit de resultaten blijkt dat dergelijke cross-overs een meerwaarde kunnen hebben voor zowel studenten van gezondheidsstudies als kunststudenten door het bevorderen van empathie, samenwerking en reflectie, en de bevordering van vaardigheden zoals communicatie, creatieve probleembenadering en kritisch denken. Tegelijkertijd worden uitdagingen geïdentificeerd, waaronder beperkte zichtbaarheid van cross-overprojecten, het ontbreken van structurele inbeddingin curricula en een gemis aan wederkerigheid in samenwerkingen. De analyse toont aan dat kunstopleidingen sterk gefocust zijn op ervaringsleren, terwijl gezondheidsopleidingen vaak een meer functionele benadering volgen. Dit wijst op een behoefte aan meer gelijkwaardige en interprofessionele samenwerking. Het ontwikkelen van inzicht in het eigen en elkaars perspectief, en een gezamenlijke taal en infrastructuur is essentieel om barrières te overbruggen en duurzame cross-overeducatie te realiseren. Deze studie pleit voor meer ruimte in het onderwijs voor transdisciplinaire co-creatie en samenwerking met maatschappelijke partners.Deze review dient als basis voor de ontwikkeling van toekomstige educatieve praktijken op het snijvlak van kunst en gezondheid in het onderwijs. De inzichten in de review, alsook de input die verzameld wordt door de open oproep in deze review, kan bestaande educatieve praktijken versterken en nieuwe en duurzame initiatieven informeren in het groeiende educatieve veld van kunst en gezondheid

Kwaliteit van samenleven in een stedelijke omgeving is een uitdagend onderwerp. In deze notitie is de context geschetst en zijn de eerste aanbevelingen gegeven op welke wijze de HU dit thema optimaal kan ontrafelen om het in te zetten ter versterking van (de kennisinstelling in) haar omgeving. Steden ontwikkelen zich sterk en snel, daaruit ontstaan allerlei kansen en bedreigingen. Tegelijkertijd is in steden ook de veranderkracht het grootst. Op verschillende manieren kan tegen deze ontwikkeling aangekeken worden. Het perspectief waarmee naar de stad gekeken wordt, leidt tevens tot een categorisering van de meest actuele thematieken en geeft een prioritering aan relevante vraagstukken. Hogeschool Utrecht staat midden in de samenleving en haar onderwijs en onderzoek draagt direct bij aan de kwaliteit van samenleven in de stedelijke omgeving. De specifieke unieke kenmerken van de stad Utrecht zijn daarbij van belang, waarbij Utrecht als proeftuin voor innovaties op het gebied van kwaliteit van samenleven in de stedelijke omgeving beschouwd wordt. Een inventarisatie van de verschillende perspectieven hoe een stad ‘beschouwd’ kan worden, leidt tot de driedeling: a. gezonde duurzame stad; b. sociale, zorgzame en rechtvaardige stad; en c. economisch sterke, creatieve en culturele stad. Lectoren opereren binnen deze driedeling, of begeven zich juist op de cross-overs tussen deze manieren om naar de stad te kijken. Een systeembenadering, waarbij kwaliteit van samenleven in de stad het overkoepelende thema is, is hierbij krachtig in het besef dat de stad leert, zich ontwikkelt en feitelijk ook als proces beschouwd kan worden.

Most people live in cities and work in offices, two contexts offering many lifestyle-related and environmental health risks. To advance their health, an analogy between urban design and facility design is introduced to explore whether health-directed design interventions in cities and facilities are related and to look for applicable cross-overs and opportunities to develop the facility management (FM) profession on the urban level.The principles of abductive reasoning as a first phase of scientific investigation were followed, by introducing a new idea and attentively observing phenomena in the communities of facility management and urban design. The method was desk research, in the context of discovery.Many possible cross-overs exist which offer opportunities for urban planners and facility managers to reinforce each other, and interesting market opportunities for the further development of urban FM. However, more systematic research is needed on efficacious and effective interventions. Furthermore, experiences and capacities of the FM sector should be unlocked and applied within a city context, as the knowledge and experiences of facility managers and urban planners can create synergy.The findings are directly applicable to facility and urban design practices, and to FM education by involving students in city design practices.Cross-overs between facilities and cities are new and can inspire both facility managers and urban planners to work together more closely for the benefit of citizens and employees.

Het romantische beeld van de kunstenaar-bohemien, dat in de 19de eeuw werd geconcipieerd en aan de basis ligt van het autonome kunstenaarschap, heeft de laatste decennia zijn verbeeldingskracht verloren. Onderzoeksrapporten en boeken die ingaan op de beroepspraktijk van beeldend kunstenaars signaleren ‘cross-overs’ (Markusen, Gilmore e.a., 2006) of schetsen een beeld van de kunstenaar als ‘artiste pluriel’ (Bureau, Perrenoud, e.a., 2009). Dat kunstenaars hun artistieke praktijk vaak combineren met andere werkzaamheden zoals doceren of met een baantje in de horeca, is een oud gegeven. Aangezien slechts een kleine groep van zijn of haar beeldende werk kan leven, dienen andere inkomenstenbronnen te worden aangesproken. Wat nieuw zou zijn is echter dat kunstenaars vanaf het postindustriële tijdperk steeds vaker een alternatief beroepsinkomen vinden in de culturele en de creatieve industrie. Van belang is dat ze niet toevallig terecht komen in deze laatste, sterk groeiende bedrijfstak. Ze zouden daar worden aangesproken op hun artistieke en creatieve capaciteiten. De centrale hypothese van dit onderzoek luidt dan ook dat een microsociologisch fenomeen, met name de hybridisering van een beroepspraktijk, in de pas loopt met een macrosociologisch/economisch fenomeen, te weten de opkomst van de cultuur- en creatieve industrie

Europea Netherlands held a seminar on this topic in May 2016, during the Dutch EU presidency.To be part of this international endeavour, the Netherlands need to strengthen the digital market, support innovation in the internal market, boost domestic policy reforms, and embed their knowledge and skills in a European society that challenges itself and continues to innovate. The Netherlands is a global player in the agro, food and horticultural sector and a major player in the export market of agricultural products. This sector is one of its main economic pillars. New knowledge is being developed as we speak, which is also an export product in high demand, providing sizeable employment. This is only possible because the sector is innovative and remains up-to-date. The peri-urban areas in the Netherlands (both urban and rural areas) are characterized by high population density. This necessitates thinking about manufacturing, food, logistics and water management(circular economy). Land-based education and life sciences in the Netherlands may appear to be specific, yet it is broad too: the primary sectors are included, as well as the manufacturing businesses and services associated with it. Participants learn to work in an innovative sector in a society in transition, bringing together multiple disciplines (cross-overs) and stakeholders. This education is practical and has a strong connection to the industry. During the Europea seminar five professorships, installed by the ministry of Economic Affairs, focused on transitions in the agro and food sector. The five professorships are posted at the Dutch Agricultural Universities of applied sciences, including teacher education for sustainable connected learning and development for professional education and business communities.
