Author supplied: Teaching software architecture (SA) in a bachelor computer science curriculum can be challenging, as the concepts are on a high abstraction level and not easy to grasp for students. Good techniques and tools that help with addressing the challenging SA aspects in a didactically responsible way are needed. In this tool demo we show how we used the software architecture compliance checking tool HUSACCT for addressing various concepts of SA in our courses on software architecture. The students were introduced to architectural reconstruction and architecture compliance checking, which helped them to gain important insights in aspects such as the relation between architectural models and code and the specification of dependency relations between architecture elements as concrete rules.

Nxus is a Software as a Service startup that provides higher educational institutions with one integrated community and bias-free career platform. With this platform, Nxus connects employers, students and alumni in a unique and innovative way. The Nxus platform is already deployed university-wide by the launching partner, Radboud University. The Take-Off HBO feasibility grant allows Nxus to research the feasibility of further developing the existing platform to meet the needs of Secondary Vocational Institutions (MBO-instellingen). Nxus hereby aims to address 2 present-day societal issues, the shortage of internships for MBO students and internship discrimination in the recruitment and selection process.
Met het project Robo-Wood willen projectpartners Nijboer, Heineken Interieur Ontwerp en Johan Cruijff ArenA samen met de Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) kennis ontwikkelen over het produceren van hoogwaardige objecten uit afvalhout* met behulp van robottechnologie. De projectpartners willen samen onderzoeken of het mogelijk is om (in het kader van het ArenA2020 renovatieprogramma) hoogstaande en in het oog springende circulaire objecten te maken voor de nieuwe bars van de Johan Cruijff ArenA, met de HvA ligstoel van afvalhout - die in 2018 is gemaakt - als voorbeeld object. Doel is dit volledig geautomatiseerd te kunnen doen. Het volledig automatiseren van het proces maakt het mogelijk om uit afvalhout efficiënt circulaire objecten met een willekeurige geometrie te maken. Hiermee wordt afvalhout geschikt voor circulair hergebruik door interieurbouwers zoals Nijboer en interieurontwerpers zoals Heineken Interieur Ontwerp. Het project maakt gebruik van de kennis uit het vorige KIEM project ‘Circular Wood for the Neighborhood’, waarin het HvA Robotic Lab een ligstoel van afvalhout heeft ontworpen en vervaardigd. In dat project werden alle delen handmatig geselecteerd, gezaagd en verbonden tot een omhullende vorm, waar vervolgens door de robot de stoel uit gefreesd is. Doel van het project Robo-Wood is om dit gehele proces door robots uit te laten voeren. Hiervoor zijn gereedschappen nodig om uit een stroom afvalhout de juiste delen te selecteren, deze op maat te zagen, te verlijmen en vervolgens te bewerken tot een stoel. In het project wordt het gehele proces ontworpen, er worden geschikte gereedschappen en grijpers voor de robots gemaakt, met software om de robots synchroon samen te laten werken. Er worden verschillende testobjecten vervaardigd voor delen van het gehele productieproces. Uiteindelijk wordt er als proof-of-concept een nieuwe stoel gemaakt. * Dit kan afvalhout betreffen uit verschillende bronnen (afvalinzameling, woningrenovatie, recycling bedrijven), maar ook reststukken van houtleveranciers en houtverwerkende bedrijven.
