Wereldwijd onderzoek: Hoe gebruiken nieuwsmedia social media? Jongeren lezen geen krant meer, ze kijken op hun smartphone die ze altijd bij de hand hebben. Binnen het lectoraat social media en reputatiemanagement van NHL hogeschool te Leeuwarden heeft een groep internationale studenten in 12 landen onderzoek gedaan. Hierbij hebben ze meer dan 150 social media sites bestudeerd van nieuws media. De resultaten maken deel uit van een internationaal onderzoek van NHL Hogeschool en Haaga Helia University. De onderzoeksvraag was: Wat speelt zich af in de nieuwsmedia? Persbureaus kunnen het overzicht gebruiken om hun social media te optimaliseren. This research aims to contribute to a better understanding of strategic collaborations between work-integration social enterprises (WISEs) and for-profit enterprises (FPEs) with the joint objective to improve labour market opportunities for vulnerable groups. We find that most collaborations strive towards integration or transformation in order to make more social impact.

The project is a field study for several diverse hotel chains, including individual properties operated under the Marriott brand, Postillion Hotels. Each brand has unique values, missions, and visions. Therefore, this integration will lead to the development of company-specific sustainability strategies and processes. The study will use the model of levers of control to provide such tailor-made solutions and determine if a generic approach can be developed to match a corporate sustainability strategy with a corporate strategy and develop a supporting management control system for operationalizing the sustainability strategy. Research question: How can a hotel brand formulate and implement a sustainability strategy with a supporting management control system that not only complies with the new CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) legislation but also emphasizes the creation of substantial value in financial and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) aspects, based on double materiality, in line with the organization's corporate values and beliefs? Objective The aim is to develop a validated method, including tools, that hotels can use to create a sustainability strategy in line with the CSRD guidelines. This strategy should create value for the organization, the environment, and society, while aligning with the hotel's values and beliefs. Merely being compliant with the CSRD is not enough for hotels. Instead, they should view the implementation of the CSRD as an opportunity to stand out in terms of sustainability. By creating value in areas such as environment, safety, and governance, or through the six capitals (financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural) that align with the UN-SDGs, and explicitly taking both an inside-out and an outside in perspective (double materiality), hotels can significantly enhance their sustainability reputation.
Waarom ontstaat antisociaal of crimineel gedrag? Allerlei sociale, psychologische én neurobiologische factoren blijken hierbij van belang. Neurobiologische kennis is in de praktijk vaak afwezig. Professionals in het zorg- of veiligheidsdomein zouden gebaat zijn bij een toegankelijke onderwijsmodule. Brainstorm biedt kennisclips met basiskennis over het ontstaan van antisociaal en crimineel gedrag, met extra aandacht voor neurobiologische factoren.Wat? De Brainstormmodule behandelt negen thema’s: drie basisthema’s over ontwikkelingscriminologie en zes neurobiologische thema’s. Binnen elk thema wordt in een kennisclip kort basiskennis samengevat. Links naar de kennisclips zijn hieronder te vinden. Met bijbehorende opdrachten (zie docentenhandleiding) kan deze kennis verder worden verdiept. Uitgangspunt van de module is het biopsychosociale perspectief: het wetenschappelijk model waarbij neurobiologische, psychologische en sociale factoren op elkaar inwerken. De kennisclips: 1. De Brainstormmodule is ontwikkeld voor professionals die zich bezighouden met antisociaal of crimineel gedrag in welke vorm dan ook (beleid, toezicht, interventie en preventie etc.). De module kan zowel bij hbo-bacheloropleidingen en post-initiële (master)opleidingen als voor professionals in-company, gebruikt worden. Ontwikkeling Brainstorm Brainstorm is ontwikkeld door dr. Evelien Platje en dr. Andrea Donker van het lectoraat Kennisanalyse Sociale Veiligheid en dr. Lucres Nauta-Jansen van het AmsterdamUMC. Zij hebben veel onderzoek- en onderwijservaring op het gebied van neurobiologie van antisociaal en crimineel gedrag. Brainstorm is het eindproduct van het ZonMW-project ‘Onbekend maakt Onbemind. Leren werken met neuropsychobiologische kennis van en met jongeren met antisociaal gedrag’, een samenwerkingsproject met het lectoraat Jeugd van de Christelijke Hogeschool Windesheim. De kennisclips zijn vormgegeven door Bureau Nauta. Voor de ontwikkeling van de kennisclips zijn er feedbackmomenten geweest met zowel studenten als docenten van de opleidingen Social Work, Integrale Veiligheidskunde en Sociaal Juridische Dienstverlening van Hogeschool Utrecht.
In Amsterdam's neighbourhoods, much of the waste that is disposed has the potential of becoming something else by means of recycling or upcycling. Zero Waste lab –which is part of the organization De Gezonde Stad- is a place where inhabitants can bring their own separated waste in exchange for value coins. Now, Zero Waste Lab now wants to take this a step forward and further develop their own project: from recycling to upcycling waste. In this endeavour, HvA will collaborate by researching the possibilities for upcycling a local waste stream by means of digital production pro-cesses, as well as ways of involving the neighbourhood. Because it is of vital importance for the project not only to be technically possible, but also scalable and economically feasible, Zero Waste Lab and HvA have asked for partnership to the company Verdraaid Goed. This partnership and specific case study, presented here as ‘Wood for the neighborhood’ can be summa-rized in four main goals: • (Production) Explore the design and manufacturing possibilities of using digital production to upcycle a local wood waste stream (with an industrial robotic arm) • (Design) Show how explorative research, when carried on from the beginning of the de-sign process, can bring great added value to the development of project concepts. • (Social) Demonstrate that involving stakeholders early in the process of reusing and de-signing with waste materials can shape the future in new directions • (All three) Highlight how this case study is relevant and fits the principles of the circular economy
