Consumer Perception Applied to Remanufactured Products in a Product-Service System Model

This research focused on implement analysis to diagnose the viability to propose a design and repair strategy based on Product-Service System (PSS) and remanufacturing to preserve the value in white goods, more specifically laundry machines. The aim is to generate an alternative to the linear economy to redirect consumers to the circular economy, positively affecting the environment, the economy, and society, leading to responsible consumption. To achieve this, it is necessary to identify consumer behavior and the factors that intervene to buy remanufactured products. Also, find a timely methodology for the development of the PSS, analyze the ability to conserve added value, propose the strategy and verify its feasibility. The reach of this paper is establishing customer perception in the acceptance of remanufactured products in a circular economy model for white goods.

Design and Repair Strategies Based on Product–Service System and Remanufacturing for Value Preservation

Remanufacturing is a production practice that requires the work of producers, consumers, and the government. There are benefits associated with this production model, such as improving the environment, opportunities for cost savings, and others. However, it is essential to identify the factors that affect the possibility of acceptance of this production model. This research proposes a model based on different analysis methodologies and techniques of SEM (Structural Equations Modeling) and the method of PLS (Partial Least Squares). A total of 403 responses to the survey were collected from 1 November 2021 to 15 January 2022. For the data treatment, SPSS, Excel, and WarpPLS software were used to identify the variables, factors, and their direct and indirect effects among the latent variables, referring to a scheme focused on consumer perception based on the acquisition remanufactured products. This created model served as a reference to create and develop a design and repair strategy for White goods or similar products in handling, logistics, and repair. This design strategy was transformed into a business model based on a circular economy, particularly on a Product–Service System with social, economic, and environmental benefits for producers and consumers.

Learning about racism: A week-by-week qualitative exploration of two white Dutch primary student teachers’ emotional responses during a Critical Race Theory based course

This qualitative study explored emotional responses of two white Dutch student teachers during a Critical Race Theory (CRT) based course. Following Plutchik's (2001) classification of 32 emotions, the analysis of their weekly diaries resulted in the identification of 16 emotions. In both diaries similar emotional responses were identified. However, the analysis did not reveal a straightforward path these students emotionally went through. The number and types of emotional responses, both comfortable and uncomfortable, fluctuated weekly and occurred simultaneously in various combinations. Even when similar emotional responses were identified, students connected differently to the course content. This could be explained by different starting points both students had when entering the course. The findings add to past work by identifying a variety and complexity of emotional responses of white student teachers during a CRT based course and can be used to create course conditions to prepare teachers for contributing to anti-racist education.

Capturing a hidden part of urban traffic: an approach to get a grip on urban goods movement.

Limited data is available on the size of urban goods movement and its impact on numerous aspects with respect to livability such as emissions and spatial impact. The latter becomes more important in densifying cities. This makes it challenging to implement effective measures that aim to reduce the negative impact of urban good movement and to monitor their impact. Furthermore, urban goods movement is diverse and because of this a tailored approach is required to take effective measures. Minimizing the negative impact of a heavy truck in construction logistics requires a different approach than a parcel delivery van. Partly due to a lack of accurate data, this diversity is often not considered when taking measures. This study describes an approach how to use available data on urban traffic, and how to enrich these with other sources, which is used to gain insight into the decomposition (number of trips and kilometers per segment and vehicle type). The usefulness of having this insight is shown for different applications by two case studies: one to estimate the effect of a zero-emission zone in the city of Utrecht and another to estimate the logistics requirements in a car-free area development.
