Adding a design perspective to study learning environments in higher professional education.

This study investigates the designs of learning environments in higher professional education through the identification of designable elements and grading them from specified to emergent. In addition, the problems with the designs are identified and adaptive elements are introduced, which perform a dual function: offer contextual clues and scaffold learners in need of support.
