Lecturer/Researcher

About

I am currently a lecturer at Breda University of Applied Sciences, with international experience spanning both academia and the tourism industry.

Previously, I held positions as Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BA in Hospitality Management at the University of Greenwich in London, Head of the Tourism Product Development Sector at the Tourism Organisation of Novi Sad in Serbia, Programme Leader for the MSc Ecotourism course at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland, and Lecturer at the Faculty of Sport and Tourism in Serbia.

At Buas, I have been an active member of the research group Tourism Impacts on Society. I have also been involved in the Adventure Tourism Research Association as a steering group member and have coordinated the annual International Adventure Conference since 2015. I actively contribute to research in tourism and outdoor recreation as a member of the Editorial Board and Social Media Editor for the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning, and as Associate Editor for Academica Turistica – Tourism and Innovation Journal. I am also a certified Forest Wellness Mediator and active member of Forest Therapy South Eastern Europe.

My research focuses on how humans (tourists/consumers) make sense of their lived experiences, and how wellbeing can be enhanced through concepts such as One Health, slow adventure, natural selfness, and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku). I primarily explore embodied experiences using qualitative, ethnographic methodologies and phenomenological philosophy to critically investigate bodily presence, sensory engagement, memory, and reflection within tourism contexts.
