Instead of the usual format of a symposium in the context of an international Biennial, with people that fly in and just give a talk, this Busan Biennale developed a platform for a symposium in progress. During the installing of the works by the artists, national and international curators and theorists, inspired by the creative atmosphere of the omnipresent artistic activities, reflect on issues related to current curatorial models and theories. Besides that, this niche will function as the critical consciousness of the curatorial perspective of the Busan Biennale 2004, as the invited speakers, but also a group of young international curators and some participating artists, continuously reflect on and discuss the premises of the exhibition from their own (Asian) experiences and perspective.
