In this book and elsewhere Dutch courts are portrayed as little short of barbaric for rejecting direct applicability of the human right to food. In this contribution I want to revisit case law asking the question if the rejection of direct applicability of the right to food implies that in the Netherlands hungry people are actually being let down by the courts.

Met het innovatietraineeship wil Hogeschool Inholland de relatie tussen onderwijs, onderzoek en werkveld versterken. Studenten van hogeschool Inholland worden tijdens dit traineeship gekoppeld aan MKB-bedrijven en krijgen begeleiding vanuit zowel de hogeschool als het MKB. De student werkt een half jaar aan het afstudeeronderzoek binnen een bedrijf, in samenwerking met een onderzoeksgroep van Inholland. Vervolgens krijgt de student een jaarcontract om binnen het bedrijf de resultaten van het onderzoek verder uit te werken en tot realisatie te brengen. Tijdens dit jaar wordt de student gecoacht en getraind vanuit Inholland. Hiermee ontstaat een langer lopende relatie tussen de hogeschool en het werkveld. Om tot een goede match te komen tussen student en MKB-bedrijf is een vraagarticulatieproces uitgewerkt, waar zowel docenten en lectoren vanuit de hogeschool als medewerkers van het MKB bij zijn betrokken. Het eerste half jaar van deze pilot wordt gebruikt om de vraagarticulatie te beproeven. Lessen worden getrokken voor verbetering van het Inholland-proces en als inspiratie voor andere hogescholen. Studenten beginnen in september 2021met een afstudeerstage bij een MKB-bedrijf om onderzoek te doen dat gerelateerd is aan een maatschappelijke opgave. Na het succesvol afstuderen treedt de student in februari 2022 voor een jaar in dienst bij dit MKB-bedrijf om de onderzoeksresultaten te implementeren. Er wordt een traineeship-programma ontworpen dat aandacht besteedt aan persoonlijke en inhoudelijke ontwikkeling van de trainee. Tevens wordt er een MKB-Community opgezet om de MKB-bedrijven met elkaar in contact te brengen en maatschappelijke innovatie een boost te geven. De resultaten van en ervaringen met het traineeship en de ontwikkeling van de trainee zelf wordt tussendoor gemonitord en geëvalueerd. Inholland ziet het innovatietraineeship als een geweldige kans om te werken aan duurzame partnerships, versterking van het praktijkgericht onderzoek en bij te kunnen dragen aan oplossingen voor maatschappelijke uitdagingen.
