Purpose - This paper aims to establish the profile of an excellent facility manager in The Netherlands.Design/methodology/approach − As part of a large-scale study on profiles of excellent professionals, a study was carried out to find the key characteristics of an excellent facility manager. Three panel sessions were held in different regions of The Netherlands. Sixteen facility management (FM) professionals with various work experiences participated in the conversations, led by a non-FM moderator. All material was recorded, transcribed, and labelled independently by three assessors. The concept profile that was derived from these analyses was administered in a survey twice to FM experts following a Delphi method.Findings – Outcomes suggest a combination of the following five characteristics defines an excellent facility manager: he or she (1) possesses communication skills; (2) acts results-oriented; (3) is entrepreneurial; (4) is sensitive to the needs of the organisation; (5) demonstrates personal leadership.Paper_Profile Excellent Facility ManagerAll characteristics were consistent with the nine FM Bachelor competencies of the Dutch standard (LOOFD). However, regarding the fifth domain (personal leadership), the observed profile of an excellent FM professional seems more challenging than the Dutch Bachelor standard.Practical implications − The observed profile can be used to further strengthen the Dutch (Honours) Bachelor Programmes in FM. Exploring international (dis)similarities, possibly leading to an international profile of an excellent facility manager, is a future ambition.Originality/Value − This study describes the systematic design of a research-based profile of an excellent FM professional from a practice point of view.

This ‘cohort profile’ aims to provide a description of the study design, methodology, and baseline characteristics of the participants in the Corona Behavioral Unit cohort. This cohort was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the regional public health services. The aim was to investigate adherence of and support for COVID-19 prevention measures, psychosocial determinants of COVID-19 behaviors, well-being, COVID-19 vaccination, and media use. The cohort also examined specific motivations and beliefs, such as for vaccination, which were collected through either closed-ended items or open text responses. In April 2020, 89,943 participants aged 16 years and older were recruited from existing nation-wide panels. Between May 2020 and September 2022, 99,676 additional participants were recruited through online social media platforms and mailing lists of higher education organizations. Participants who consented were initially invited every three weeks (5 rounds), then every six weeks (13 rounds), and since the summer of 2022 every 12 weeks (3 rounds). To date, 66% of participants were female, 30% were 39 years and younger, and 54% completed two or more questionnaires, with an average of 9.2 (SD = 5.7) questionnaires. The Corona Behavioral Unit COVID-19 cohort has published detailed insights into longitudinal patterns of COVID-19 related behaviors, support of COVID-19 preventive measures, as well as peoples’ mental wellbeing in relation to the stringency of these measures. The results have informed COVID-19 policy making and pandemic communication in the Netherlands throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The cohort data will continuously be used to examine COVID-19 related outcomes for scientific analyses, as well as to inform future pandemic preparedness plans.

Aim: This presentation will discuss practice profiles as a tool to support professionals to better deliver evidence-based effective components. A practice profile describes the activities of professionals in a specific setting and in a concrete and ‘action-based manner.’ This provides a tool to support ‘learning on the job.’ We will describe what a practice profile is, how it can be developed in co-creation and what benefits it provides for professionals. Relevance: Currently, there is a lack of action-based knowledge regarding the delivery of evidence-based effective components of interventions or programs. As a consequence, professionals are aware of the importance of delivering certain elements but are unequipped to actually deliver those elements in a context-appropriate manner. It is therefore important to improve our understanding of how to support professionals to acquire and develop this action-based knowledge. Method and findings: We developed a practice profile for professionals working in a residential setting for young people, and a practice profile for volunteers providing support to families with young children. We will discuss the steps undertaken to develop these practice profiles, which included a review of the literature / documentation, interviews, and vetting during work sessions with various stakeholders. We will also show how the practice profile can be applied in various ways, for example as a tool to coach students, or as a card game to use during supervision. Both practice profiles are currently being pilot tested in clinical practice. Initial findings regarding their applicability will be sharedduring the session.

Background Traumatic injuries are of global health concern and significant contributors to Emergency Department (ED) and hospital workload. Aim To compare patterns of traumatic injuries among patient presentations to the ED across different modes of arrival (ambulance, police, or private transport) and to examine the predictors of an ED length of stay (LOS) exceeding 4 hours and hospital admission requirement. Methods A retrospective observational study using 6 months of health data (8th October 2012–7th April 2013) of ED patient presentations made to one large, regional ED in Queensland, Australia, with a diagnosis code related to trauma. Findings Over 6 months, 24.2% (n = 6,668) of adult patient presentations were trauma-related; most (60.9%) arrived via privately arranged transport (PAT); 38.7% were brought in by ambulance (BIBA) and 0.4% were brought in by police (BIBP). Demographics, clinical profile and patient outcomes differed based on mode of arrival. One in four patient presentations required hospital admission and 25% had an ED length of stay of >4 hours. Factors influencing hospital admission included older age, night shift, more emergent priority, and being BIBA. An ED length of stay of >4 hours was associated with older age, being BIBA, emergent nature of presentation, and hospital admission. Conclusion The profile and outcomes of ED patient presentations with traumatic injury differs based on their mode of arrival to the ED. People BIBA were more likely to require hospital admission and have longer ED LOS, compared with those BIBP or PAT, even when controlling for covariates. Our findings may be used to inform nursing resource allocation when considering mode of arrival, especially for older people and people BIBA.

There is a global demand for talented managers and leaders. To meet this demand, higher education institutions are developing talent programs. However, international perception of talent is diffuse. In this study, our profile of highly talented international business professionals was internationally validated by 172 participants, representing East Asia and Western Europe. Results indicate consensus on three domains: communicating, achieving results, and seeing patterns and interrelationships in a global context. Strikingly, diverse country-specific interpretations of the accompanying behaviors were observed. The findings contribute to the talent literature and offer insights for educational practitioners when developing competence frameworks for talent or professionalization programs.

Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) have the potential to offer better flexibility to a grid than any single energy storage solution. However, sizing a HESS is challenging, as the required capacity, power and ramp rates for a given application are difficult to derive. This paper proposes a method for splitting a given load profile into several storage technology independent sub-profiles, such that each of the sub-profiles leads to its own requirements. This method can be used to gain preliminary insight into HESS requirements before a choice is made for specific storage technologies. To test the method, a household case is investigated using the derived methodology, and storage requirements are found, which can then be used to derive concrete storage technologies for the HESS of the household. Adding a HESS to the household case reduces the maximum import power from the connected grid by approximately 7000 W and the maximum exported power to the connected grid by approximately 1000 W. It is concluded that the method is particularly suitable for data sets with a high granularity and many data points.

Non-professional runners make extensive use of consumer-available wearable devices and smartphone apps to monitor training sessions, health, and physical performance. Despite the popularity of these products, they usually neglect subjective factors, such as psychosocial stress, unexpected daily physical (in)activity, sleep quality perception, and/or previous injuries. Consequently, the implementation of these products may lead to underperformance, reduced motivation, and running-related injuries. This paper investigates how the integration of subjective training, off-training, and contextual factors from a 24/7 perspective might lead to better individual screening and health protection methods for recreational runners. Using an online-based Ecological Momentary Assessment survey, a seven-day cohort study was conducted. Twenty participants answered daily surveys three times a day regarding subjective off-training and contextual data; e.g., health, sleep, stress, training, environment, physiology, and lifestyle factors. The results show that daily habits of people are unstructured, unlikely predictable, and influenced by factors, such as the demands of work, social life, leisure time, or sleep. By merging these factors with sensor-based data, running-related systems would be able to better assess the individual workload of recreational runners and support them to reduce their risk of suffering from running-related injuries
