The knowledge base for Social Work is strengthening. Underpinning of Social Work deriving from scientific research is necessary given the growing complexity of the work and its context. How this research should be conducted and to what type of outcomes it must lead, is part of an ongoing debate. In the Netherlands, practice-based research at Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) is a relative new approach. Social Work research groups at UAS assert to conduct practice-based research in order to contribute to knowledge and support the objectives of Social Work. The current study was carried out to obtain insight into the characteristics of this research approach. A sample of publications was analysed in terms of knowledge purpose, methodology, and level and type of participation. Results show a strong focus on producing descriptive knowledge and to a lesser extent on control knowledge, using primarily qualitative research methods, and with limited direct participation by stakeholders. In order to practice more what they preach the research can strengthen by doing more empirical research, by diversifying the research in terms of design and methods and increasing the level of participation of stakeholders

This paper is an introduction to the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Social Therapy and its practical application as a group intervention. Developed from the post-modern Marxist approach and inspired by the Vygotksy development theory, it is a performatory therapy which is very little known in Brazil. In this paper, initially, we will present the historical background in which this approach was developed and its main authors. Later we will present its concepts and methodology and finally its practices, taking the group as the focal point of this modality of work. Having in its proposal the permanent focus in building the group and in its emancipation, the Social Therapy has been presented as a potent group intervention in the construction of social change.

Dit artikel presenteert de resultaten van een discursief psychologische analyse van geruchtvorming op social media. De analyse van Twitterberichten die zijn geplaatst tijdens de zoektocht naar twee vermiste kinderen heeft tot doel inzicht te verwerven in de manier waarop geruchten zich ten tijde van crisissituaties op social media ontwikkelen. In this article we present the results of our analysis of rumour construction on social media from a discursive psychological perspective. The analysis of tweets during a search for two missing kids aims to provide insight into the way rumours develop on social media during a crisis situation, as well as the interactional and rhetorical aspects of rumour construction.

This research aims to contribute to a better understanding of strategic collaborations between work-integration social enterprises (WISEs) and for-profit enterprises (FPEs) with the joint objective to improve labour market opportunities for vulnerable groups. We find that most collaborations strive towards integration or transformation in order to make more social impact.

De Regiegroep van de topsector Life Sciences & Health wil een impuls geven aan initiatieven die praktijkgericht onderzoek op het gebied van Health betreffen. De redenen hiervoor zijn de relatief bescheiden positie van Health vergeleken bij de Life Sciences in de eerdere agendering onder de topsector en de verwachting dat praktijkgericht onderzoek door hogescholen een substantiële bijdrage kan leveren aan de doelstellingen onder het topsectorenbeleid. Daarom is opdracht gegeven tot het opstellen van een agenda voor praktijkgericht onderzoek “Health”. Deze agenda moet leiden tot samenwerking met een solide economische component tussen hogescholen, eventuele andere kennisinstellingen en publieke en private partijen uit de beroepspraktijk. De Agenda Praktijkgericht Onderzoek Health is ingedeeld in vier overkoepelende thema’s (A - D) waarop het onderzoek van hogescholen zich zou moeten richten. Binnen elk thema zijn onderwerpen benoemd die op basis van deze verkenning prioriteit verdienen.

Wereldwijd onderzoek: Hoe gebruiken nieuwsmedia social media? Jongeren lezen geen krant meer, ze kijken op hun smartphone die ze altijd bij de hand hebben. Binnen het lectoraat social media en reputatiemanagement van NHL hogeschool te Leeuwarden heeft een groep internationale studenten in 12 landen onderzoek gedaan. Hierbij hebben ze meer dan 150 social media sites bestudeerd van nieuws media. De resultaten maken deel uit van een internationaal onderzoek van NHL Hogeschool en Haaga Helia University. De onderzoeksvraag was: Wat speelt zich af in de nieuwsmedia? Persbureaus kunnen het overzicht gebruiken om hun social media te optimaliseren. Hogescholen starten in 2022 met een eigen doctoraatstraject: het Professional Doctorate. Daarmee introduceert het hbo een nieuwe beroepsopleiding waarmee het de grenzen in de beroepspraktijk wil verleggen. Kandidaten worden opgeleid tot hooggekwalificeerde professionals die leren te interveniëren in complexe vraagstukken zoals de energietransitie of de gezondheidszorg. Belangrijke en noodzakelijke toevoeging Hogescholen zien een doctoraatstraject in het hbo als een belangrijke en noodzakelijke toevoeging binnen het hoger onderwijs stelsel. Het Professional Doctorate (PD) maakt een doorlopende leerlijn van bachelor via master tot doctorate in de beroepskolom mogelijk, en wordt nauw verbonden met het overige hbo-onderwijs. Doel is dat hbo bachelor- en masterstudenten in hun onderwijs de vruchten plukken van het onderzoek van PD-kandidaten naar de laatste ontwikkelingen in de beroepspraktijk. Daarmee is de introductie van het professional doctorate ook een investering in de bredere aansluiting van het hbo op de arbeidsmarkt.
