ICT in intelligente voertuigen levert innovatieve systemen op. Deze innovatieve systemen richten zich op maatschappelijke knelpunten (verkeersveiligheid, milieubelasting en congestie) en consumenten waarde. Recent wordt meer nadruk gelegd op maatschappelijke knelpunten. Vijf (5) a tien (10) jaar geleden werd de nadruk gelegd op het creëren van consumenten waarde. Deze innovatieve systemen moeten wel geaccepteerd worden door de eindgebruikers. Er is nog maar beperkt onderzoek gedaan naar acceptatie van veiligheidssystemen in intelligente voertuigen. Uit literatuuronderzoek komt naar voren dat verschillende vormen van acceptatie gehanteerd worden. Tevens blijkt dat veel onderzoekers spreken over acceptatie maar de acceptatie niet (kunnen) meten. Om inzicht te krijgen in het gedrag en beleving van bestuurders wordt in dit onderzoek voorgesteld om de evolutie van de cruise control (CC) naar adaptive cruise control (ACC) en naar cooperative adaptive cruise control (C-ACC) te gebruiken om acceptatie te voorspellen en te beoordelen. Er zijn bijzonder veel acceptatiemodellen en theorieën. Deze worden in de praktijk veelvuldig gebruikt binnen de Informatie en Communicatie Technologie (ICT). In deze paper wordt een route uitgezet voor het opzetten van een onderzoek waarbij gebruik gemaakt wordt van het UTAUT-acceptatiemodel. Dit onderzoek moet uitwijzen welke criteria de acceptatie beïnvloeden.

Abstract-Architecture Compliance Checking (ACC) is an approach to verify the conformance of implemented program code to high-level models of architectural design. ACC is used to prevent architectural erosion during the development and evolution of a software system. Static ACC, based on static software analysis techniques, focuses on the modular architecture and especially on rules constraining the modular elements. A semantically rich modular architecture (SRMA) is expressive and may contain modules with different semantics, like layers and subsystems, constrained by rules of different types. To check the conformance to an SRMA, ACC-tools should support the module and rule types used by the architect. This paper presents requirements regarding SRMA support and an inventory of common module and rule types, on which basis eight commercial and non-commercial tools were tested. The test results show large differences between the tools, but all could improve their support of SRMA, what might contribute to the adoption of ACC in practice.

ACC is an approach to verify conformance of implemented program code to high-level models of architectural design. Static ACC focuses on the modular software architecture and on the existence of rule violating dependencies between modules. Accurate tool support is essential for effective and efficient ACC. This paper presents a study on the accuracy of ACC tools regarding dependency analysis and violation reporting. Seven tools were tested and compared by means of a custom-made test application. In addition, the code of open source system Freemind was used to compare the tools on the number and precision of reported violation and dependency messages. On the average, 74 percent of 34 dependency types in our custom-made test software were reported, while 69 percent of 109 violating dependencies within a module of Freemind were reported. The test results show large differences between the tools, but all tools could improve the accuracy of the reported dependencies and violations.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the cost-effectiveness and budget impact of the Boston University Approach to Psychiatric Rehabilitation (BPR) compared to an active control condition (ACC) to increase the social participation (in competitive employment, unpaid work, education, and meaningful daily activities) of individuals with severe mental illnesses (SMIs). ACC can be described as treatment as usual but with an active component, namely the explicit assignment of providing support with rehabilitation goals in the area of social participation. Method: In a randomized clinical trial with 188 individuals with SMIs, BPR (n = 98) was compared to ACC (n=90). Costs were assessed with the Treatment Inventory of Costs in Patients with psychiatric disorders (TIC-P). Outcome measures for the cost-effectiveness analysis were incremental cost per Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) and incremental cost per proportional change in social participation. Budget Impact was investigated using four implementation scenarios and two costing variants. Results: Total costs per participant at 12-month follow-up were e 12,886 in BPR and e 12,012 in ACC, a non-significant difference. There were no differences with regard to social participation or QALYs. Therefore, BPR was not cost-effective compared to ACC. Types of expenditure with the highest costs were in order of magnitude: supported and sheltered housing, inpatient care, outpatient care, and organized activities. Estimated budget impact of wide BPR implementation ranged from cost savings to e190 million, depending on assumptions regarding uptake. There were no differences between the two costing variants meaning that from a health insurer perspective, there would be no additional costs if BPR was implemented on a wider scale in mental health care institutions. Conclusions: This was the first study to investigate BPR cost-effectiveness and budget impact. The results showed that BPR was not cost-effective compared to ACC. When interpreting the results, one must keep in mind that the cost-effectiveness of BPR was investigated in the area of social participation, while BPR was designed to offer support in all rehabilitation areas. Therefore, more studies are needed before definite conclusions can be drawn on the cost-effectiveness of the method as a whole.

SUMMARY Architecture compliance checking (ACC) is an approach to verify conformance of implemented program code to high-level models of architec tural design. Static ACC focuses on the modular software architecture and on the existence of rule violating dependencies between modules. Accurate tool support is essential for effective and efficient ACC. This paper presents a study on the accuracy of ACC tools regarding dependency analysis and violation reporting. Ten tools were tested and compare d by means of a custom-made benchmark. The Java code of the benchmark testware contains 34 different types of dependencies, which are based on an inventory of dependency types in object oriented program code. In a second test, the code of open source system FreeMind was used to compare the 10 tools on the number of reported rule violating dependencies and the exactness of the dependency and violation messages. On the average, 77% of the dependencies in our custom-made test software were reported, while 72% of the dependencies within a module of FreeMind were reported. The results show that all tools in the test could improve the accuracy of the reported dependencies and violations, though large differences between the 10 tools were observed. We have identified10 hard-to-detect types of dependencies and four challenges in dependency detection. The relevance of our findings is substantiated by means of a frequency analysis of the hard-to-detect types of dependencies in five open source systems. DOI: 10.1002/spe.2421

Background: People with severe mental illnesses (SMIs) have difficulty participating in society through work or other daily activities. Aims: To establish the effectiveness with which the Boston University Approach to Psychiatric Rehabilitation (BPR) improves the level of social participation in people with SMIs, in the Netherlands. Method: In a randomized controlled trial involving 188 people with SMIs, we compared BPR (n = 98) with an Active Control Condition (ACC, n = 90) (Trial registration ISRCTN88987322). Multilevel modeling was used to study intervention effects over two six-month periods. The primary outcome measure was level of social participation, expressed as having participated in paid or unpaid employment over the past six months, as the total hours spent in paid or unpaid employment, and as the current level of social participation. Secondary outcome measures were clients’ views on rehabilitation goal attainment, Quality of Life (QOL), personal recovery, self-efficacy, and psychosocial functioning. Results: During the study, social participation, QOL, and psychosocial functioning improved in patients in both groups. However, BPR was not more effective than ACC on any of the outcomes. Better social participation was predicted by previous work experience and a lower intensity of psychiatric symptoms. Conclusions: While ACC was as effective as BPR in improving the social participation of individuals with SMIs, much higher percentages of participants in our sample found (paid) work or other meaningful activities than in observational studies without specific support for social participation. This suggests that focused rehabilitation efforts are beneficial, irrespective of the specific methodology used.

This study explored what contributes to successful family foster care from the perspective of young people by asking them about their most positive memory of family foster care. Forty-four Dutch adolescents and young adults (aged 16–28) participated in this study and shared their most positive memory in a short interview. Their answers were qualitatively analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, supplemented with an analysis of the structure of their memories. The thematic analysis resulted in the themes Belongingness, Receiving support, Normal family life, It is better than before, and Seeing yourself grow. The structural analysis showed that young people both shared memories related to specific events, as well as memories that portrayed how they felt for a prolonged period of time. In addition, young people were inclined to share negative memories alongside the positive memories. These results highlight that, in order to build a sense of belonging, it is important that of foster parents create a normal family environment for foster children and provide continuous support. Moreover, the negative memories shared by participants are discussed in light of a bias resulting from earlier traumatic experiences. Accepted Version. The period leading to and immediately after the release of the IPCC's fifth series of climate change assessments saw substantial efforts by climate change denial interests to portray anthropogenic climate change (ACC) as either unproven theory or a negligible contribution to natural climate variability, including the relationship between tourism and climate change. This paper responds to those claims by stressing that the extent of scientific consensus suggests that human-induced warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Second, it responds in the context of tourism research and ACC, highlighting tourism's significant contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, as well as climate change's potential impacts on tourism at different scales. The paper exposes the tactics used in ACC denial papers to question climate change science by referring to non-peer-reviewed literature, outlier studies, and misinterpretation of research, as well as potential links to think tanks and interest groups. The paper concludes that climate change science does need to improve its communication strategies but that the world-view of some individuals and interests likely precludes acceptance. The connection between ACC and sustainability illustrates the need for debate on adaptation and mitigation strategies, but that debate needs to be grounded in scientific principles not unsupported skepticism.

Met dit document wil ik de lezer een nieuwe invalshoek tonen op mobiliteit (Driving Guidance) en een andere benadering van automotive hbo onderwijs. De wereld om ons heen verandert en deze nieuwe wereld zal een ander type automotive ingenieur eisen. Dit is een korte weergave van een lezing voor de MBO-raad onderafdeling docenten automotive (Onderstructuur Btg MCT). De presentatie is gehouden op Miniconferentie Onderstructuur Btg MCT op 23 april 2010 bij Innovam te Nieuwegein. Kort worden trends op wereldniveau geschetst waarna wordt afgedaald naar het niveau van mijn werkplek. Het pad verloopt via niveau van Nederland, Regio Eindhoven, Helmond en tenslotte eindigt het pad bij Lectoraat Automotive Control. Als voorbeeld wordt het project Cooperative Driving getoond. Parallel aan de schets van werkzaamheden wordt besproken wat de veranderingen zijn in automotive onderwijs. Traditioneel komt automotive vanuit de invalshoek werktuigbouwkunde. De nieuwe opleidingen automotive HBO en WO zijn meer gericht op de drie componenten werktuigbouwkunde, elektrotechniek en ICT.

De auto is niet meer weg te denken in onze huidige westerse maatschappij en bezet een belangrijke plaats in zowel ons economische als sociale leven. Hoewel Nederland al een van de meest verkeersveilige landen ter wereld is, waren er toch nog 811 verkeersdoden in 2006. Als we ons echter realiseren dat dit slechts een kwart is van de ruim 3200 verkeersdoden in 1972, is sindsdien al veel bereikt. De Nederlandse overheid streeft naar een verdere reductie tot minder dat 580 verkeersdoden in 2020. De daarvoor noodzakelijke verbeterde verkeersveiligheid zal voor een groot deel moeten komen uit nieuwe voertuigtechnologie die ongevallen helpt voorkomen (actieve veiligheid) en de gevolgen ervan beperkt (passieve veiligheid). Een auto veilig door het hedendaagse verkeer loodsen is geen eenvoudige taak, zeker niet onder slechte weersomstandigheden en bij complexe of onoverzichtelijke verkeerssituaties. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat bij het overgrote deel van de verkeersongevallen de oorzaak, minstens ten dele, bij een menselijke fout ligt. Intelligente voertuigsystemen, die met behulp van aan het voertuig verbonden omgevingssensoren het verkeer rond het voertuig monitoren, kunnen de bestuurder assisteren. Als er zich geen bijzonderheden voordoen is de bestuurder het meest gebaat bij informatieve- en comfortverhogende systemen. Als er een gevaarlijke situatie dreigt te ontstaan, komen de veiligheidssystemen in beeld. Naarmate de kans op een ongeval toeneemt, lijkt een grotere mate van ondersteuning (van waarschuwen, via assisteren tot interveniëren) gewenst. Vanwege hun veiligheidskritische karakter moeten actieve veiligheidssystemen voldoen aan hoge eisen ten aanzien van prestatie (hoge nauwkeurigheid), robuustheid (weersomstandigheden en wegcondities) en betrouwbaarheid. Hier liggen enorme uitdagingen in zowel het ontwerp als de evaluatie van dergelijke systemen waaraan het lectoraat Automotive control van Fontys Hogescholen door praktijkgericht onderzoek en vraaggestuurd onderwijs wil bijdragen.
